Gerichtsvollzieher Bei den NAACP Image Awards gewann sie am Samstagabend einen großen Sieg, indem sie die Statuen der Künstlerin des Jahres und den President’s Award mit dem Lasso warf – aber es war ihre Rede purer Dankbarkeit gegenüber ihrer Mutter, die alle im Sturm eroberte.
Der R&B-Sänger stand bei der 55. jährlichen Zeremonie im Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles im Anschluss an den NAACP-Präsidenten und CEO auf dem Podium. Derrick Johnson verlieh Usher den begehrten President’s Award.
Während seiner Dankesrede sprach Usher leidenschaftliche Worte über seine Mutter: Jonnetta PattonIhm gebührt die volle Anerkennung für seine erfolgreiche Karriere.
Usher erzählte dem mit Stars besetzten Publikum, dass seine Mutter ihm beigebracht habe, durch seine Musik mit der Welt zu sprechen.
Er betonte auch, dass seine Mutter die von Männern dominierte Unterhaltungsindustrie überwunden und ihre Fähigkeiten als Vorstandsmitglied verfeinert habe, um ihrem Sohn die besten Angebote zu sichern und ihn so an die Spitze der Branche zu bringen.
An mehreren Stellen applaudierte die emotionale Menge Usher und zeigte damit ihre Zustimmung zu ihm. Aber Usher hörte hier nicht auf … er erwähnte auch, dass Frauen in der Branche oft nicht die Anerkennung erhalten, die sie verdienen.
Der Sänger gewann auch die Auszeichnung „Künstler des Jahres“ und schlug Colman Domingo, Fantasie Barrino, Halle Bailey Und Kéké Palmer – Diese Auszeichnung wurde ihm von niemand anderem verliehen als Oprah WinfreyAuch.
Ushers Siege waren wohlverdient … wie Sie wissen, hat Usher in letzter Zeit mit seinem Aufenthalt in Las Vegas, den er Ende letzten Jahres abschloss, einen Riesenspaß gemacht – ganz zu schweigen von einem unvergessliche Leistung beim Super Bowl 2024.
Zu den weiteren NAACP-Award-Gewinnern zählten „Fantasia“ für die herausragende Schauspielerin in einem Film und „The Color Purple“ für den besten Film. Königin Latifah war Gastgeber der Veranstaltung.
